This has been a wonderful weekend. My Dad and his wife Linda flew out from the east coast to San Francisco's west coast just to catch up on each other's lives the past few years. We spent the day at the Ferry Building and Pier 39 not to mention Ghiradelli square yesterday. This afternoon, I went to Peet's coffee place in Clayton and one of the staff handed me a card my Dad had left for me as they left for the airport this morning. His card was very poignant and I am glad we both took the time to forge the relationship we enjoy with one another. I find this a bit rare based on my knowledge of other people's relationships with their own fathers. We both have had bicoastal catastrophic experiences regarding severe accidents and we both have gotten closer and bonded more so than could be imagined. This visit was good for my soul and I for one am grateful we all hung out together.
