Biting Time while Biding it--Always Follow Your Heart

Here's a scoop to update those of you not receiving email from me right now: This is what happens when you don't trust your intution and assume people in the medical profession are qualified. I had a third surgery to fix the first "botched & ruined" ones in April and May on a wisdom tooth yesterday. So much for being wise. Such incompetence from two separate Endodontists is appalling. I will work much harder on following my heart in the future no matter what and get up and walk out of a hospital or procedure room even if it is embarrassing. I knew both times that these two surgeons were not qualified to handle what was needed. The second surgeon didn't know how to turn on the "new video" machine to view the tooth; the assistant had to show him. Being new to the office, wrote a pain Rx afterwards on a Friday evening wihtout having his name on the Rx pad. The pharmacy would not fill the Rx as it is illegal to write prescriptions unless your name is on the Rx pad. Aleve & Advil were very helpful though. After this comedy of bloops and blunders, I had a 3rd and final surgery yesterday and I won't be moving much for a few days. They say 'three' is a charm and this last surgeon definitely is just that. I am ecstatic to finally have found a qualified surgeon from my own generation who told me how "horrid" and "aggregious" both procedures were. The new doctor said it was if I'd been hit with a "shotgun".

This was very difficult but actually not as bad as the second surgeons antiquated brutality. He graduated Endodontic school when I was 2 years old. Age is not the factor here; however, these first two surgeons are beginning their 7th decade in life. I believe they had good careers; however, I question their sight. It is clear neither were able to handle new dentistry practicing (operative word) their old school thinking and practices. I had faith and trust in my surgeon yesterday; I did not at anytime have that 'feeling' with the other two during any moment....it was 'guesswork'....The 1st & 2nd surgeons both missed filling the fourth root canal leaving it open as if it had not been done allowing a raw nerve to be exposed. The surgeon yesterday said he found cotton in the gum-line left from the previous surgeon which was causing the infections in the tooth and sinus area.

A second root canal done on the same tooth and then another apicoectomy were redone in one sitting to get it over with...the skilled surgeon yesterday also removed the 'shrapnel' both previous surgeons left inside the rooth canal and gum-line. I am optimistic and trust this new surgeon's competence and skill. ALWAYS, trust your first initial feeling. ALWAYS!
